The core values of the North Texas YPO have changed little from its founding. Each year, the board meets off site at a board retreat to reevaluate the core values and ethos of the chapter and to reconfirm them:
VALUE – Inclusiveness
The chapter was founded on the belief that all qualified members who meet North Texas YPO’s standards and share our values should have the opportunity to benefit from the experience of participation in YPO.
VALUE – Diversity
We believe diversity of membership is one of our key chapter strengths, and we continually seek to expand our diverse member profile. The chapter does not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, religion, industry or sexual preference.
VALUE – Service Leadership
The chapter has been built by members who donated freely with their time, energy and financial resources to create a unique learning environment for North Texas YPO members. Moreover, our members go out of their way to have a positive impact on the broader community around them.
VALUE – Participation
YPO is a member-driven, member-run organization and, as such, each member’s participation and support is essential to maintaining and building the organization. Each member should be fully committed to participation in YPO at the Forum, chapter and YPO-WPO levels. Minimum attendance requirements are expected each year. Members are expected to make every reasonable effort not only to attend every core chapter meeting, but to also organize and day chair at least one event within their first two years of membership.
VALUE – Scrappiness
Whether our companies are new or established, our culture is entrepreneurial. We celebrate “edginess” and a scrappy approach to getting things done.
VALUE – Commitment to Each Other and Our Families
When called upon to help our members or their families, we do so selflessly. We believe the chapter operates as an extended family where we all have a vested interest in furthering the well-being of our members and their families, especially when they are in need.
VALUE – Welcoming
We welcome new members and go out of our way to make introductions and actively include those we do not know. We provide a safe environment based on strict confidentiality that allows each of us to break through the barriers of our normal comfort zone to interact with those in the chapter who at the outset may seem most different from ourselves.
VALUE – Commitment to Improvement
We constantly strive to better ourselves, the chapter environment, YPO-WPO and the communities around us. We recognize each of us is a work in progress and value the opportunity to better ourselves through learning and interaction.
VALUE – Energy, Passion and Fun
Whatever we do, we are all in. We strive for excellence and do not compromise. Most of all, the chapter is a fun environment where members and their families look forward to each event and the opportunity to spend time with one another.
